Member Safety Policy

Overview:

Members and Guests of Members shall refrain from all forms of misconduct which include:

Bullying

Harassment

Hazing

Emotional misconduct

Physical misconduct

Sexual misconduct

Sexual abuse

Application:

This Policy applies to Members and Guests of Members.

Policy:

Hiawatha Island Boat Club is committed to creating a safe and positive environment for Members and ensuring that it promotes an environment free of misconduct and abuse.

In the event that any Member observes inappropriate behaviors, suspected abuse, or misconduct, it is the personal responsibility of each Member to immediately report his or her observations to the President, the Head Coach, or the SafeSport representative. Members should not attempt to evaluate the credibility or validity of abuse or misconduct allegations. Complaints and allegations will be addressed according to the Hiawatha Island Boat Club Bylaws. Law enforcement agencies may be contacted, if appropriate.

Hiawatha Island Boat Club recognizes that the process for training and motivating athletes will vary with each Coach and Member, but it is nevertheless important for everyone involved in sport to support the use of motivational and training methods that avoid misconduct and abuse.
